How Does The Pack Play?

What can be more terrifying than coming across the three-wolf silhouette of a Howler Stone under the full moon? The Gnolls of the Howler Stone have come to Crystalia to ravage and rampage across the frozen wastes of the Frostbyte Reach. Each warpack, led by a pack leader, makes excellent use of its rangers, warriors and hunters to sweep away any opposition.

One of the premier abilities for the Howler Stone is Pack Mentality. It’s important that the pack stays fast and fluid to take advantage of any battlefield situation. When a model with this ability moves and has a friendly model within 2 squares, this ability allows additional movement. The pack that hunts together, eats well.

Pack Leaders will greatly help the ability of the pack to deal damage and close in on wounded and weakened heroes. Pack Hunter grants additional movement to friendly models, while Pile-On grants additional STR to attacks when there are multiple attackers. Beyond the passive abilities the Pack Leader will also use Finish It to grant additional Red dice to STR attacks for friendly models in range, tearing into the enemies with a Frenzy of bloodlust and blind anger.

Rangers are built for the flanks, helping to corral the enemy. While ignoring your stealth because of their preternatural senses (Scent), they will rain down arrows from a distance, and help the pack by marking targets for further punishment.

Warriors will scurry forward with decent STR and speed. They also have Pile-In , lending to their effectiveness in combat when other friendly models are around them. Finally, they have Bring Down, granting a ranged attack that has Knockdown. Best not to end up on your back while fighting off the pack!

Lastly, the Hunters shift in. Lightly armored and fast moving, these Gnolls are adept at tripping up target enemies and are naturally imbued with Knockdown as an ability.

Swirling closer and closer, ever encircling your party, the howling slowly driving you mad. Beware the stones, listen for the howling, and watch your back.
